Anti Wrinkle Treatments

When we frown, smile or laugh we contract muscles that over time form dynamic wrinkles such as worry lines, nasal scrunches and crow’s feet. Muscle relaxant injections can dramatically soften facial expression lines.

Injectable muscle relaxants work by relaxing the wrinkle-causing muscles that cause people to frown or squint, creating an improved appearance. Once the muscle is relaxed, you cannot contract it and continue to make the undesirable facial expression. Thus, the cosmetic injections gradually smooth wrinkles and prevent wrinkles from forming again. After facial injection it takes 2 to 3 days for the treatment to begin taking effect and around 7 days to see the full effect. Treatment effects can last up to 4 months.

The anti-wrinkle muscle relaxant that we use for cosmetic purposes have been used for medical purposes such as blepharospasm, hyperhidrosis and controlling muscle spasms in children with cerebral palsy since 1989; it has been used in the cosmetic industry for over 10 years without any reports of long-term side effects. Although the substance is derived from the culture of a bacterium, as are many of our other commonly used medicines.

Our cosmetic injectors assess each client on an individual basis and a treatment plan is developed according to their needs. Doses can be different for each individual as we all have varied facial anatomy and facial muscle strengths. Each dose is called a unit and the amount of units needed will vary in almost every individual case. It is very hard to quote for a treatment over the phone as our cosmetic injectors will need to assess the client in person to ensure an individualized plan that will result in the best cosmetic outcome. Be wary of clinics that charge per area without assessing your individual needs as this could result in under treating and a poos cosmetic outcome.

All patients are photographed and asked to return 2 weeks post treatment in order to create an individual plan.
